Corallus batesii
Amazon Basin Emerald Tree Boa
Corallus batesii is an emerald-green arboreal snake with a distinctive white dorsal stripe. It lives suspended high in the tropical canopy of the Amazon Basin.

General Characteristics

Corallus batesii is a nocturnal arboreal boa from the Amazon Basin, famous for its emerald-green coloration highlighted by a clean white dorsal line.
It has a muscular body and a triangular head equipped with heat-sensitive labial pits that help detect warm-blooded prey.
This ambush predator remains motionless on sturdy branches, coiled in its characteristic “perch pose”, and hunts after dark.
It requires a tall, warm, humid, and densely vegetated enclosure. While it can show defensive behaviour when stressed, it usually becomes calmer in a stable, low-stress environment.
UVB lighting and a 12-hour light cycle are recommended for overall wellbeing. This boa requires minimal handling and consistent, meticulous husbandry.
