General Characteristics

The Ball python is one of the most popular snakes in herpetoculture.
Native to the savannas and open forests of West Africa, it is known for its gentle temperament, ease of handling and relatively simple care in captivity.
Its name “Ball python” comes from its tendency to curl into a ball when stressed or frightened.
With an adult size between 1.2 and 1.8 metres, it fits easily into a medium-sized enclosure.
Hundreds of genetic morphs exist today, offering a wide range of colours and patterns.
Python regius is a carnivore that feeds on rodents and can live for more than 20 years in captivity with proper care.
