Rough-snouted Gecko

Rare

Rhacodactylus trachycephalus is a nocturnal gecko with a robust body and large head, endemic to the southern region of New Caledonia. It lives in humid montane forests.

General Characteristics

Rhacodactylus trachycephalus is endemic to the humid forests of southern New Caledonia. Its stocky build, large head and strong digits allow it to climb easily.

Unlike other Rhacodactylus species, it prefers cooler temperatures and high humidity, which must be strictly reproduced in captivity.
