Varanus beccarii is a fully black, slender and agile arboreal monitor living in humid tropical forests. Very active, it climbs and hunts with great agility.

General Characteristics

Belonging to the prasinus complex, Varanus beccarii is an arboreal monitor with a glossy black body.It has a prehensile tail, thin but powerful limbs, and a pointed snout.

Active during the day, it spends most of its time in the upper part of the enclosure.

It feeds primarily on varied insects and requires high humidity.Its environment must include large sturdy branches, well-placed elevated hides and dense vegetation.

UVB lighting is essential, with a 12-hour cycle.
This monitor displays intelligent behaviours and responds well to a calm and stable routine.
