Varanus reisingeri is a medium-sized arboreal monitor with a bright yellow body marked with black patterns. It lives mainly high above the ground and is active during the day.

General Characteristics

This arboreal monitor has a slim body, a long prehensile tail and a yellow coloration decorated with irregular black markings.

It is active during the day, mostly high in the enclosure, climbing with its powerful claws.It feeds on a variety of insects (roaches, crickets, larvae, etc.) and benefits greatly from a heavily planted environment.

A tall, well-ventilated terrarium with high humidity is essential.
It requires stable temperatures, a proper thermal gradient and UVB lighting with a 12-hour cycle. Elevated hiding spots help reduce stress.
